BrightBridge Credit Union (BrightBridge) recently supported A Bed for Every Child through a combination of volunteer service, charitable giving and team member donations aimed at helping children and families across Massachusetts.
On Saturday, Sept. 19, BrightBridge team members joined volunteers from other credit unions at the Build a Bed volunteer event hosted by Tremont Credit Union in partnership with A Bed for Every Child, Elan Credit Card and the Cooperative Credit Union Association.
In addition to building beds at the event, BrightBridge made a $1,000 donation to A Bed for Every Child and organized a company-wide collection drive for new twin-size bed sheets and children's books.
Team members from across the organization contributed generously to provide additional comfort and resources for children receiving new beds. A Bed for Every Child is a program of the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless that works to ensure children have a safe and comfortable place to sleep. The organization partners with businesses, nonprofits and volunteers to provide beds, bedding and other essential items to children and families experiencing financial hardship.
“Having a bed of your own is something many people take for granted, but for some children it can make a tremendous difference in their daily lives,” said BrightBridge Chief Financial Officer Laurie LaChapelle, who attended the volunteer event. “Helping create a safe, comfortable place for a child to sleep is incredibly rewarding, especially with the group of credit unions that joined forces to help build so many beds. We’re so honored to be part of this effort and grateful for the opportunity to support local families.”
