BrightBridge Credit Union (BrightBridge) recently donated hundreds of reusable tote bags to the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center (GLFHC) in support of its Mobile Food Market, helping Lawrence residents easily carry fresh produce and essential food items home.
The tote bags were distributed during GLFHC’s Mobile Food Market held on Saturday, March 28, at the health center’s flagship location at 34 Haverhill Street in Lawrence, where nearly 500 families were served. The monthly Mobile Food Market is a collaboration between GLFHC and the Greater Boston Food Bank that provides fresh fruits, vegetables and other food items to local families facing food insecurity.
“Our Mobile Food Market is a vital resource for our community,” said GLFHC Director of Development & Marketing Steven Crowell. “Our staff and community volunteers distribute approximately 143,000 pounds of food annually and serve about 500 families each month. We were pleased to partner with BrightBridge, whose donation of bags helped make distribution much easier for the families we serve.”
The Mobile Food Market began nearly a decade ago as a physician residency project at GLFHC, when residents in the Lawrence Family Medicine Residency sought to take meaningful action to address food insecurity and its impact on patient health. Since then, it has grown into a trusted community initiative driven by staff, volunteers and local partners.
“The well-being of our communities extends beyond traditional financial services,” said BrightBridge President & CEO John J. Howard “We’re so proud to partner with organizations like the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center that are making an incredible difference for local families, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to support their mission.”
BrightBridge’s donation reflects the credit union’s ongoing commitment to community partnerships and initiatives that improve access to essential resources across the region.
