October is National Cybersecurity Awareness MonthBy Raquel Tolman on 10/7/2025

October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month

With fraud and scams on the rise, we are taking extra steps to keep your accounts and personal information safe. As part of these efforts, you may notice that our online and mobile banking systems will now prompt you for multi-factor authentication more frequently.

What is multi-factor authentication?

One of the easiest ways to cut costs is by planning meals in advance. A few minutes of preparation can save both money and stress. Start by checking your fridge and pantry to see what you already have, then build your weekly meals around those items. This not only reduces waste but also helps you avoid buying things you don’t need.

We make these updates because we are constantly evaluating the evolving threat landscape and adapting our technology to protect your assets. These changes are part of our ongoing commitment to safeguarding your financial well-being.

In addition to these system updates, here are some best practices you can follow to help protect yourself from fraud:

  • Create a unique username and password for your banking accounts that is not used for other websites or apps.
  • Use a long, strong password that avoids personal information (like names, birthdays or addresses).
  • Keep your passwords protected using a Password Manager tool or, if you prefer to write them down, store them in a locked box or drawer.
  • Avoid saving your passwords in your web browser.
  • Make sure your contact information is up to date. This will ensure uninterrupted access to your online and mobile banking accounts, including receiving security codes and important communications from BrightBridge.
  • Enable biometric login (fingerprint or facial recognition) for the BrightBridge mobile app. Biometrics are a convenient and highly secure way to access your accounts online.
    • To enable biometric login on the BrightBridge mobile app, open the app then tap More > Settings > Biometrics and toggle “Use Biometric ID” on. The BrightBridge app will then use the facial or fingerprint recognition already stored on your smartphone.

  • Set up transaction alerts for your account. This feature allows you to easily track and manage your account activity.
    • To set up alerts, log in to your account, click More > Tools > Alerts and select your preferences for receiving notifications about your account.
  • Keep your devices up to date with the latest operating system and security updates. These updates are not about forcing new devices; they are essential to fixing known vulnerabilities and bugs that fraudsters exploit. By updating your phone, tablet or computer, you are installing the latest protections against new scams and cyberattacks.

Important reminder: BrightBridge will never call, text or email you to ask for your password or other personal information. If you receive an unexpected request for this information, do not respond and contact us directly instead.

Thank you for trusting BrightBridge with your banking needs. Together, we can make your accounts more secure and keep your money safe!
